The core program of artEquity is our annual Facilitation Training, a two-weekend intensive retreat with a purpose: deep analysis and skills building paired with meaningful discourse on issues of inclusion, equity, and the role of art makers. Participants attend cultural events, join a national cohort of colleagues in the field and help sustain a national arts movement.
Our program is powered by art practitioners interested in facilitating around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We encourage a wide spectrum of arts leaders, arts practitioners, arts educators, arts advocates, board members, funders, supporters, and others. We hope to support and grow the artist-activist within you.
two intensive retreats
The training will take place during two intensive weekend retreats in Atlanta, GA, in September and October. The retreats are set at least a month apart to allow participants time to reflect on the themes presented and to practice facilitation competencies. Participants will be expected to attend both retreat sessions.
The training will take place
Weekend #1: September 26 - 29, 2019
Weekend #2: October 24 - 27, 2019
one, big cultural experience
Another key component to the training will be the opportunity for participants to be immersed in the Atlanta cultural experience. Cohort members will explore firsthand the challenges and successes of addressing issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion within an arts institution, and will have an opportunity to experience art and seminars that connect theory with practice.
Please note: As a prerequisite for attending the 2019 training, all confirmed cohort members must participate in a mandatory introductory webinar at a date to be set for September 2019. All meals during the training are provided.
