About the Program

Recognizing and responding to the ongoing and growing need for in-depth analysis-building through the lens of board governance, board members from cultural arts institutions across the country are being invited to take a deep dive into addressing issues of equity and anti-racism to better serve the organizations to which they’ve been entrusted.

This national board cohort will participate in 9 virtual skills-based and analysis-building sessions over the course of 5 months. The skills-based sessions will explore foundational concepts related to equity and antiracism; benchmarks of antiracist organizations; and how to operationalize equity and antiracism values. Participants will join a growing base of almost a hundred antiracist trustees working to effect organizational and field-wide change. Even after the training is concluded, this enthusiastic base of trustees continues to meet, collaborate, and strategize together to use their positional power and agency in the service of antiracism.

Following the fourth year of the program, the 2023 - 2024 training will be hosted virtually through 9 sessions between September 2023 and March 2024.
